Examine some personality traits that determine how people get along with each other.
We interact with many individuals in our lifetime. At work, during social engagement and activities. Even within our family unit, we have close relatives and extended family to deal with.
Everyone has a set of traits that define who they are and how they behave. Understanding some traits of people is critical. It can help you figure out how to get along with others.
What Are Some Common Personality Traits?
Some basic traits prevent people from getting along. While some traits help people to get along well with each other.
But, hopefully, we each have an interest in getting along with others. Let’s look at those key abilities and/or challenges that determine how we will deal with others.
Basic Good Traits
Those with the following personality traits have good basic qualities. The individual is kind, polite, and caring towards others. Regardless of their opinions or actions toward them in return. This person also has respect for local laws, even if they disagree with them.
These are the traits or qualities that define and amply describe a person. Basic qualities, such as friendliness and approachability, are also good traits to have.
Most times, having those traits will make people feel comfortable around you. Sometimes, those traits are necessary.
Negative Traits
Negative traits promote dysfunctional traits and egotistical personalities. People who are very self-centered, with little interest in others. Outside themselves, they do not care about anything or anyone else. They’re often looked upon unfavorably because this type has extremely unhealthy habits. Such as addiction or codependency (a mental disorder).
These are the traits or qualities that are misleading. They may seem to have good traits, but after a while, their dysfunctional traits will show up. They probably do not even comprise the good traits that we thought they had.
Furthermore, they’re likely dysfunctional traits found in those in authority. Those who have always held a particular place in their community.
Bad personality traits make people want to avoid and disassociate themselves from you.
Optimistic Traits
These are the traits or qualities that can propel a person to incredible levels of success and happiness.
The person with the most of these traits is going to be the happiest and most successful person they can be. In the long run, these people are also the most influential with those around them. Regardless of their position (or authority) in a company or community.
So, there will always be those people who have a certain set of these qualities. Optimistic people have a positive look at the present and future. Their optimistic qualities draw people to them.
How do Personality Traits Change Over Time?
We often think personality traits of as relatively stable. But research shows they can change.
People’s environments and experiences can influence the way they behave. It can cause them to develop new personality traits. Alternatively, they can exhibit existing ones in different ways.
For example, someone who is shy as a child may become more outgoing after moving to a new school. An agreeable person may become quarrelsome after experiencing several years of workplace conflict.
In addition, research suggests that personality traits become more extreme as we get older. So, someone who is only slightly introverted in their youth may become much more so as they age. While someone who is only mildly conscientious may become much more obsessive.
Ultimately, our personalities, behaviors, characteristics, and traits change.
Why Develop Good Personality Traits and Characteristics?
Even people who work in their own business will have certain traits they want to gain. If they are, to reach their true potential.
It is important to continue to develop traits. Each person has a natural group of traits that they are most comfortable with.
Sadly, too many people do not know what their natural groups are. They are unaware that they have them, or they aren’t trying to find them.
Some do not map out personal development plans for themselves.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the life you’re currently experiencing. There’s also nothing wrong with improving it or seeking to change it.
Developing good personality traits and characteristics will help you to form good relationships.
