How to use onion to prevent hair loss and grow hair? The onion against hair loss, but what an idea!

As surprising as it may seem, onion and, more particularly, onion juice, promote blood circulation and thus allow the hair follicles to be better nourished and oxygenated.

In short, good onion juice will allow you to prevent hair loss and even promote hair growth! And the virtues of the onion are many because this type of care also promotes the prevention of dandruff and other scalp problems (for example fungal infections and yeast infections).

Many of the women I talk to daily suffer from alopecia, including severe hair loss. If alopecia is a phenomenon that can have various causes, there are fortunately many ways to remedy it by implementing a healthy hair routine incorporating natural products.

Onion is one of them.

What is the point of a hair treatment based on onion juice?

The secret of the onion lies in the sulfur content of this bulb. It is also the release of the sulfur that makes us cry like madeleines when we cut an onion!

Sulfur, therefore, besides making us sad, can improve the production of collagen tissues necessary for hair growth.

You are stressed; you lack vitamins, your hair is protein deficient, you eat badly; you don’t drink enough…in any of these scenarios, the verdict will inevitably weaken and more or less hair loss. Important to the hair. Among my tips for combating this problem, which can really affect self-esteem, is this ingredient which at first glance I grant you is not very sexy. Hmmm, I sense you’re skeptical. And yet…

Onion oil

The objectives of hair care are based on onion juice. To get this liquid, you must extract the juice from the onions and apply it directly to the scalp in depth. Sure, onion juice has an unpleasant pungent smell, but if you can handle the smell, this remedy will be very effective in achieving your health goals for your hair. But what exactly are their expected results?

  • Increased hair strength and reduced breakage
  • Stimulation of hair growth through better blood circulation
  • Increase in volume as the onion prevents hair thinning
  • Fights bacteria and fungi on the scalp and therefore reduces the risk of hair loss
  • Fight against dandruff

Warning! Be careful if you have wounds on your skull, as onion juice can be an irritant and cause itching.

To carry out this treatment, all you have to do is extract the juice from a few nice fresh onions.

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions
  • A blender
  • A plastic charlotte-type cap or cling film

Process

Peel the onions, cut them into rings, and put them in the blender to extract the juice. Then, separate your hair into four and gently apply to the scalp with small massages. Personally, I prefer to do it directly with my fingers, but you can use a cotton swab or a hair oil applicator.

Cover your hair with the charlotte for better penetration and leave on for half an hour to an hour. For rinsing, apply a mild sulfate-free shampoo (for example, an Indian-type reetha or shikakai powder) and add a few drops of lemon for shine and the elimination of the onion smell! You can also opt for a scented dry oil.

Some magazines or blogs advise applying onion juice three times a week for visible results after a month. I only perform this treatment once or twice a week and at the weekend, because you remember it is a rather (very) fragrant treatment and therefore not very practical during the week.

As I often say in my posts about hair loss problems, alopecia, or baldness, it is important to keep in mind that onion is not a miracle cure. There is never any magic. Before integrating any care, medication, food supplements, or vitamins into your hair routine, it is essential to identify the origin of your hair loss and then treat the direct causes of alopecia to get results.
